High paying jobs for a career change

The 4 Best High Paying, Easy Jobs for a Career Change

When you’re changing careers, it’s hard to find jobs that require little to no experience and won’t pull you back into another exhausting workplace. That’s why this list only has high paying, easy jobs, so you can quickly change your career’s direction!

I didn’t add any gig work or short-term jobs to this list, since a career change usually means you want something longer than a few months. Even if these easy jobs that pay well are a temporary step until your dream career, you still want something reliable!

These easy careers each have a few things in common, so you know they can sustain you for a while without being too taxing! There will still be hard days, like with any job, but there should be less in these easy careers with good pay!

To make it on this list of the best jobs for changing careers, a position has to have:

  • Consistent, higher than average salary (at least $45,000/year)
  • Steady and dependable schedules, with at least 40 hours/week
  • On the job training or easily attainable skills (aka they don’t take years of education)
  • Multiple opportunities for promotions with increasingly higher pay
  • Independent work, preferably without direct oversight

Alright, let’s dive into the 4 best high paying, easy jobs!

High Paying, Easy Jobs 3: Compliance Officer

Now, I know this job sounds super fancy and technical but, guess what…

It’s the highest paid easy career on this list. Before we get into the pay, let’s talk about what a Compliance Officer actually does. According to O*NET, they,

“Examine, evaluate, and investigate eligibility for or conformity with laws and regulations governing contract compliance of licenses and permits, and perform other compliance and enforcement inspection and analysis activities not classified elsewhere.”

Yeah, that’s not the most specific description, so let’s get a little deeper here. Basically, consumer protection agencies- like the CFPB and the EPA- have a lot of regulations for big businesses to follow.

That’s where Compliance Officers come in! They can either work for a government agency or for a business, and their job is to make sure businesses are following the legal & ethical guidelines they’re supposed to.

Yes, it means you have to know those legal regulations and ethical standards, but once you’re trained in an industry’s rules, you’re good to go!

There are a ton of jobs within Compliance, and some of them do require a master’s degree, but don’t let that stop you from looking. If you focus your search on local, state, and federal government compliance jobs, you’ll find plenty of openings that only require a bachelor’s degree!

Alright, let’s get to the good stuff- aka why the high pay makes this one of the best jobs for changing careers!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the average salary of Compliance Officers as $71,000/ year!!! And, with an average schedule of 40 hours/ week, that comes to $34.18 an hour!!

Plus, this career is going to grow 8% by 2024- which is way higher than the national average!

If you’re looking for a consistent and high paying easy job, then Compliance Officer might be perfect for you! If not, let’s get into our last job for changing careers…
